Alexandria Circuit Court Records

Alexandria's 18th Judicial Circuit maintains its own court records separate from any county system. The city is an independent city, which means it does not belong to any county in Virginia. The Clerk of Circuit Court manages the COVERS system for land records. Land records from 1785 to 1801 and 1821 to 1824 are available online. Post-1930 records are also online. There is a gap in the middle of the 19th century, but staff can help locate records from that period through manual search. The OCRA system allows attorney-only remote access to civil case data going back to 1983. The public can search criminal and traffic case data free through OCIS.
